NORWICH, UK - October 2024 - SOUL Church, one of the largest and fastest-growing churches in the UK and Western Europe, has opened a new, purpose-built auditorium in Norwich. The 1,250-seat facility features a state-of-the-art L-Acoustics Kara II line array system, designed to provide an elevated audio experience for the church's diverse congregation.

Founded in 2014 by Pastors Jon and Chantel Norman, SOUL Church has quickly become a leading faith community with over 2,500 members. The church hosts a variety of services throughout the week, from large Sunday gatherings to intimate Bible studies. The new L-Acoustics system will support these gatherings, as well as SOUL Church's annual Christmas spectacular, which attracts nearly 10,000 attendees.

>Building a new church of this scale in Western Europe is truly unique," explains Gareth Lee, of the Directional Leadership Team at SOUL Church. "We wanted a sound system that could match the ambition of our new facility and provide a world-class experience for our congregants.

SOUL Church partnered with L-Acoustics Certified Partner Solotech, a leading audio-visual solutions provider, to design and install the system. The decision to choose L-Acoustics came after extensive research into top venues and churches worldwide. Solotech's expertise, combined with L-Acoustics renowned sound quality and support, made for an ideal collaboration.

The auditorium's unique layout, with 400 ground-level seats and tiered amphitheater seating, presented challenges for the installation. Solotech used L-Acoustics Soundvision 3D modeling software to optimize speaker placement and coverage. Soundvision proved instrumental in designing the perfect solution for SOUL Church, providing detailed heat maps of the SPL coverage for different speaker layouts. This allowed the church and installation team to choose the best option for the room.

The final design incorporates a combination of flown and floor-mounted subwoofers for optimal low-end coverage, complemented by a stereo line array and front fills. The system comprises 16 Kara IIi loudspeakers, two A15i Wide, five A10i Wide, six SB18 IIi subs, four KS28 subs, and four X12 coaxial speakers. The setup is powered by L-Acoustics amplified controllers: two LA12X and six LA4X, managed by a P1 processor and an LS10 switch for Milan-AVB networking.

The audio system installation process presented a unique challenge. The stage construction blocked the main entryway for the equipment needed to lift the speakers into place. To solve this, Solotech had to carefully coordinate with the stage construction team. In the end, they used a spider boom lift that just fit through a side door to complete the audio installation.

The new L-Acoustics system has received widespread praise from the congregation, visitors and industry professionals alike.

SOUL Church's New Home in Norwich Features L-Acoustics Kara Professional Sound System

GDANSK, Poland – September 2024 – “Gdańsk has always been blessed with a pioneering, independent way of thinking. Everything starts here – one might say – and innovative spaces like Gdańsk Institute of Urban Culture with its L-ISA immersive experience help the community’s cultural vibrancy to flourish,” says Pawel Kuhn, Marketing Director at Audio Plus, which installed the new audio technology.

Housed in a converted water plant which even features a river running underneath so that visitors can traverse via glass floors, the space is fittingly called the Kunszt Wodny (Water Art) building. The Institute creates and hosts a vast range of projects designed to promote culture and nurture the city's heritage. The building features a 50 square-metre interactive model of Gdańsk, a café, a bookstore, three workshop rooms, and an auditorium, which Audio Plus has equipped with a state-of-the-art L-Acoustics L-ISA immersive sound system. 

The 250-capacity auditorium space is adaptable, hosting everything from cinema, concerts, and theatre productions to conferences and commercial hires. A multitude of objectives were taken into account when choosing an audio system. World-class audio reproduction is the cornerstone, but optimal flexibility and versatility were equally important due to the fluid nature of the demands placed upon the space. The system needed to be compact and unobtrusive while packing a powerful punch. “The city of Gdańsk required the space to be a special, one-of-a-kind venue that would offer a spectacular cultural experience,” explains Kuhn.

Audio Plus’ long-time contractor Sound Design & Stage Technology proposed an immersive audio technology design based on L-Acoustics L-ISA technology for the space. The city of Gdańsk was excited by the idea, and the proposal was accepted. Audio Plus, L-Acoustics Certified Provider Distributor in Poland, was appointed General Contractor for the project to provide sound and stage technology for the entire venue, including the auditorium, overseeing a mix of several subcontractors, with lighting delivered by LTT, stage mechanics by BSC, cinema equipment via Awaco, and finishing touches, including the acoustic cladding, entrusted to ESM Systems.

The final configuration consisted of five hangs of two L-Acoustics A10i spread across the proscenium, with two flown hangs of two KS21i subwoofers. Seven 5XT placed along the stage lip provide spatial fill. Twelve X8, each on the side and back walls, provide surround, while six further X8 mounted in the ceiling provide overhead. The system is powered by five LA2Xi and one LA4X amplified controllers while an L-ISA Processor II manages object-based spatialisation. A stage monitor system of four X12 and eight X8 is powered by two LA4X amplified controllers.

Gdańsk Institute of Urban Culture Gives Visitors an Immersive Experience with L-ISA Technology from L-Acoustics

BERLIN, Germany - September 2024 - Berlin's iconic Uber Arena is about to sound better than ever, thanks to a cutting-edge L-Acoustics L2 professional sound system – the first sports facility L Series installation in the world. Home to the Eisbären Berlin ice hockey team and Alba Berlin basketball club, this 17,000-seat multipurpose venue hosts up to 180 events annually, ranging from championship games to chart-topping concerts. The venue has hosted acts such as Metallica, Coldplay, Barbra Streisand, U2, and Foo Fighters, and high-profile events including the Euroleague Final Four, NBA and NHL games, the European Men’s Basketball Championship, the IHF Handball World Championship, and the MTV Europe Music Awards.

> Our previous system, installed in 2008, had served us well but was no longer meeting the demands of today's events," says Sebastian Rossman, Director of Venue Operations at AEG, who manages the arena. "We needed a solution that could deliver crystal-clear sound for both sports fans and music lovers while also adapting to the 30 different configurations that our venue calls on to meet the demands of the diverse events that we host.

To tackle this challenge, Rossman enlisted the expertise of consultants MMT Network and long-term arena sound partners PAM Events. After rigorous systems testing from four different manufacturers, the L-Acoustics L2 emerged as the clear winner.

**L Series: A Sound Solution for Every Occasion **

Felix Maiworm, Project Engineer at MMT Network, explains why the L2 system stood out: "We faced unique challenges, including the need for uniform, long-term 99dB SPL across all seats and managing the venue's complex acoustics. The cardioid pattern of L Series proved crucial in controlling lower frequencies and taming the hall's reverberant field."

The new setup features five hangs of L2 speakers, two facing south, and one each facing north, east, and west. Eight X8 delay fills are used for the VIP restaurant and six X12 are placed underneath the video cube. The sound system is powered by L-Acoustics amplified controllers and managed by their processors. This configuration ensures optimal coverage for every seat in the house, whether it's for a high-stakes hockey match or a sold-out rock concert.

**A Sound Investment in the Fan Experience**

The compact design of the L Series also addressed the arena's physical constraints, allowing for shorter hangs that don't interfere with sightlines or the venue's elaborate roof structure. This aspect is particularly beneficial for the arena's frequent transitions between sports and concert setups and means the system can be lifted and parked up above the main grid when the system is not in use. 

The coverage of the system, which is significantly different between basketball and ice hockey, can be easily adjusted by using the FIR Autofilter algorithm in LA Network Manager, there is no need for mechanical adjustments, which saves cost of labour and time.

Malta – September 2024 - Two of Malta's most distinctive dining establishments have elevated their culinary experiences with the installation of state-of-the-art L-Acoustics professional sound systems. LOA, a South American-inspired seaside venue in St. Paul's Bay, and Aki, an Asian fusion restaurant in Valletta, now boast audio environments that perfectly complement their unique atmospheres and cuisine.

LOA, nestled near the historic Wignacourt Tower, draws inspiration from the ancient Río Loa River and LOA goddesses. This bright seaside venue offers a culinary journey through Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Mexico, blending exquisite flavours with Mediterranean charm. With is tunning coastal views and laid-back vibe, LOA has become a favourite among locals and tourists alike.
Aki, situated in Malta's capital city, presents a modern twist on Asian cuisine in a sleek, stylish setting. Part of a franchise with an additional venue in London, Aki combines Japanese, Chinese, and Southeast Asian culinary traditions and is known for its artistic food presentation and expertly crafted cocktails, Aki has quickly become a go-to spot for those seeking a sophisticated dining experience in Valletta.

Both venues required unique audio solutions to enhance their distinct characteristics and accommodate their transition from background music during dining hours to energetic DJ performances in the evening. The DB Group, owners of both restaurants, sought a versatile, high-quality sound system to meet these varying needs while enhancing the overall ambiance without overpowering the dining experience.

To achieve this vision, DB Group partnered with Black Box, L-Acoustics System Integrator Partner in Malta since 2017. After an impressive demonstration at the Black Box showroom, where the dynamic range and sound quality of L-Acoustics systems stood out even at low volumes, the project moved forward.

The project presented unique challenges, including the need for multi-zone setups to accommodate different music levels throughout the restaurants and the requirement for high-quality sound reproduction at both low and high volumes. David Zammit, Technical and Sales Director at Black Box, led the project, leveraging his expertise and using L-Acoustics Soundvision software to precisely model the acoustic environments of both restaurants. His designs ensured optimal speaker placement and coverage to give every guest, regardless of their location, or time of day, an exceptional experience. 

The installation at LOA features a combination of 34 5XT coaxial enclosures and 10 SB15M subwoofers, providing balanced coverage both indoors and outdoors in the restaurant and lounge. Aki's system includes six X4i and 12 5XT coaxial enclosures, six X8 coaxial point source speakers, and four SB15M subwoofers, strategically placed to cater to different areas of the restaurant, bar, lounge and private dining room. The venues are powered by six LA4X and four LA2Xi amplified controllers respectively, with LOA also utilising an LA12X for additional power and control.

The L-Acoustics systems have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both the restaurant owners and patrons. The ability to maintain clarity and dynamic range even at low volumes has been particularly praised for enhancing the dining experience without overpowering conversations.

PARIS, France – September 2024 – The Hippodrome de Longchamp pulsed with energy this summer as Solidays Music Festival marked its 25th year, drawing a record-breaking 260,000 attendees. At the heart of this sonic spectacle? L-Acoustics professional sound systems, ensuring every beat and every message rang out with crystal clarity.

Solidays isn't just about the music – it's a movement. For a quarter-century, this unique festival has fused chart-topping performances with powerful advocacy, raising funds and awareness for AIDS prevention and support.

To create powerful, consistent sound over multiple stages spanning from intimate 1,000-person areas to the massive 50,000-strong main stage, B Live rose to the occasion, using L-Acoustics technology from the design phase through to show management. The design process began with Soundvision, which allowed B Live to plan systems to match the various audience configurations. For rapid and precise calibration, the team leaned on the P1 processor and M1 measurement suite, while show control was managed through LA Network Manager. "This integrated approach allowed us to achieve our objectives of covering all audiences as fully as possible, with the best sound quality in terms of SPL and contour," Birais added.

The main stage system featured an impressive array of L-Acoustics K Series loudspeakers, including left/right hangs of four K1-SB subwoofers over 12 K1 with two K2 down. A further 24 KS28 subs were ground-stacked in front of the stage, while 28 K2 were used as out-fills with 14 Kara II and A10 for in-fills. Delay systems consisted of 16 K2 and six Kara II, while X12 and X8 provided concert-grade sound to the VIP area. The main stage system was driven by LA12X amplified controllers using Milan-AVB networking.

LONDON, United Kingdom - September 2024 - The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is making waves in the West End with its UK premiere of FANGIRLS, an award-winning Australian musical that has taken the theatre world by storm. This groundbreaking production features an L-Acoustics sound system that delivers exceptional audio quality to this major West End debut. 

Written by Yve Blake, FANGIRLS explores the passionate world of teen fandom through the story of a 14-year-old girl infatuated with the lead singer of a world-famous boy band. The show, which blends hilarity with powerful messages about feminism and the often-underestimated capabilities of teenage girls, demanded an extraordinary audio system capable of recreating the electrifying atmosphere of a large-scale pop concert within the intimate setting of the Lyric.

To meet this unique challenge, award-winning sound designer Tony Gayle specified L-Acoustics, working closely with The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and L-Acoustics Certified Partner Autograph Sound. This collaboration marks a significant return to partnership between L-Acoustics and Autograph Sound in the West End.

> FANGIRLS is unlike anything we've hosted before," explains Daniel Ronayne, Head of Sound at The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. "The show's pop-driven score and arena-like moments required us to think beyond traditional theatre audio solutions. We needed a professional sound system with exceptional power and headroom to truly capture the essence of the story.

Autograph Sound, recognising the importance of this production, made a substantial investment in L-Acoustics technology, adding Kara II and Kiva II speakers to their permanent inventory, specifically for FANGIRLS.

The L-Acoustics configuration includes two main Left/Right hangs of six Kara II enclosures each, with a Centre cluster of Kiva II for vocal clarity and consistent coverage across the auditorium. Two additional hangs of three Kara II along with SB18 subwoofers cover the stalls, augmented by the theatre's existing fixed subwoofers.

Manchester, UK - August 2024 - Thirty years after Oasis' groundbreaking debut album "Definitely Maybe" first rocked the music world, Liam Gallagher set out to recreate that magic for a new generation. The challenge? Deliver an audio experience that would do justice to the iconic album across a series of sold-out UK arena shows.

To meet the challenge, Skan PA Hire, a Clair Global company, was tasked with crafting a professional sound system capable of unleashing the raw energy and crystal-clear nuances of Gallagher's performances. The mission was clear: achieve consistent, powerful audio that would electrify audiences from the front row to the nosebleed seats.

> We needed a system with serious muscle, but also finesse," explains Sam Parker, Front of House Engineer for the tour. "L-Acoustics was the obvious choice to meet those demands.

Rising to the challenge, Systems Engineer Mark Pantlin designed a comprehensive concert touring system centred around renowned K Series line array speakers from L-Acoustics. The impressive setup features main hangs of 16 K1 over four K2 per side, complemented by side hangs of ten K1 over six K2 per side. Low-end reinforcement is delivered through 12 flown K1-SB subs per side, while coverage to the outer seats of the 270° audience area is handled by two hangs of 12 K3 per side. On the ground, 24 KS28 subwoofers are arranged in eight pods of three, configured in a cardioid pattern for optimised rear rejection and control. The system is rounded out with eight A10 Focus used as front-fills, six A15 Wide as out-fills, and four delay arrays of eight K2 each to ensure well defined and crystal-clear sound throughout the venue.

Pantlin highlights the system's versatility, noting, 

> We created a controlled stage environment with good low-end rejection by positioning the K1-SB subs off-stage of the main arrays, working in conjunction with the cardioid ground sub array. L-Acoustics Soundvision software played a crucial role in the system design process. "Soundvision is invaluable from the very beginning of the design process right through to show day," Pantlin explains. "It very accurately helps us see what the end result will be before the system is even installed.

The result? A sonic experience that transported audiences back to the heady days of Britpop while delivering the punch and clarity expected by modern concertgoers. From the opening chords of "Rock 'n' Roll Star" to the last echoes of "Married with Children," the L-Acoustics system ensured that every seat in the house felt the music's full impact.

HAMBURG, Germany – August 2024 – The Hamburg Congress Centre (CCH), one of Europe's most historic convention facilities, has completed a five-year renovation that marries cutting-edge technology with sustainability. Central to this transformation is the installation of the innovative L Series line source array from L-Acoustics, a professional sound system that combines superior audio quality with impressive environmental credentials.

Built in 1973 and protected as a historic landmark, the CCH has long been a cornerstone of the European convention scene. The recent renovation, led by consultants GRANER + PARTNER, aimed to modernise the facility while preserving its rich heritage. "It makes a huge difference to be able to deliver the very highest quality to our clients - from the architecture to the audio," says Dominik Schenke and of GRANER + PARTNER. "The L-Acoustics L Series breathes new life into the building and opens up endless possibilities for its future."

The installation of the L-Acoustics system was executed by Protones GmbH & Co. KG, a full-service provider based in Lüneburg. Benjamin Schulenkorf, Technical Managing Director at Protones led the project at the CCH, bringing his expertise to this landmark installation.

**Sustainability at the Core**

The CCH's commitment to sustainability was a key factor in choosing L-Acoustics as a partner. The venue recently achieved Gold Certification from the German Sustainable Building Council, becoming the first German convention center to do so.

"From the outset, we were looking for a partner that shared our values and would be able to meet our sustainability standards," Gralf Krüger, Head of Sound at CCH explains. "L-Acoustics was a perfect match."

The L Series loudspeakers align perfectly with the CCH's eco-friendly goals. Compared to traditional line arrays, the L Series offers significant material savings: using 56% less paint, 30% less wood and 60% less steel in the manufacturing process. Moreover, the L Series takes up less space and weighs less than comparable systems, occupying 30% less volume and weighing 25% less than equivalent line source arrays. This efficiency translates to reduced transportation costs and lower carbon footprint.

**Superior Sound and Flexibility**

A selection of audio systems was designed and tested, with the L-Acoustics L Series chosen after rigorous testing, primarily for its superior audio quality and speech intelligibility – crucial factors for the diverse range of events hosted at the CCH. The L Series system was designed using L-Acoustics Soundvision in collaboration between GRANER + PARTNER, Protones and audio consultant Rûdiger Aue. 

The main hall features a Left/Center/Right configuration, with one L2 and L2D speaker forming the left and right arrays, complemented by a centre cluster of one A10i Focus over two A10i Wide speakers. Four KS21 subwoofers per side, in cardioid configuration, are ground-stacked on either side of the stage while two X8 are mounted either side of the stage for out-fill and eight 5XT are placed across the stage lip for in-fill. Two additional hangs of one A10i Focus over one A10i Wide provide stage monitoring. The whole system is powered by L-Acoustics LA7.16i amplified controllers.

The L-Acoustics installation is integrated into a sophisticated media technology network that spans the entire CCH. This network includes Q-SYS Core processors in various halls and utilises Dante audio-over-IP protocol, providing unprecedented flexibility and connectivity. "Our long-standing relationship with CCH and extensive network technology expertise during planning and installation has allowed us to develop a comprehensive in-house audio network that connects all venues, including Hall 1," explains Schulenkorf. 

> Although the system is discreet in size, the output is amazing," Schenke notes. "It means we can meet the requirements of any client without a problem.

The renovation has expanded the CCH's capacity to 12,000 people, with the largest hall seating 3,000. An extensive Dante-based audio network enables connectivity between all halls, providing unparalleled flexibility for various event types.

With its state-of-the-art L-Acoustics L Series professional sound system in place, the CCH is poised to continue its legacy of hosting world-class events while setting new standards in sustainability.

TILBURG, Netherlands - August 2024 — Since 1996, Concertzaal Tilburg has been an important platform in the Netherlands for a wide range of performances, from classical concerts to pop music and spoken word events. The 743-seat auditorium, known for its versatility, hosts everything from small symphonic and chamber music to amplified concerts, festivals, musical theatre and conferences. To better serve its diverse programming and audience, Concertzaal Tilburg, has upgraded its audio with a new L-Acoustics Kara II concert sound system, marking another step in the venue's ongoing commitment to providing quality experiences for both performers and attendees.

> Our goal with this upgrade was to address some of the acoustic challenges we've faced over the years," says Pernel van Herpt, Technical Manager at Concertzaal Tilburg. "The Kara II system gives us more flexibility to accommodate our varied program while ensuring consistent sound quality throughout the hall.

Designed to provide clear, balanced sound while minimising visual impact on the hall's aesthetics Fairlight, L-Acoustics Certified Provider Distributor for the Netherlands, integrated a main PA with left/right hangs of eight Kara II line array speakers covering the ground floor. Panflex at the asymmetric 90° setting helps to avoid reflections from the walls while maintaining a wide stereo image. Six KS21 are centrally flown in two columns of three, giving consistent low-end coverage and benefitting from both cardioid and end-fire technology for minimised reflections and maximised rejection on stage. Five 5XT provide front row coverage and imaging. The hall features two balconies that are covered by a distributed system of 5XT and A10i in white, to integrate nicely with the architecture. A P1 processor provides Milan-AVB networking with the LA4X and LA7.16i amplified controllers.

René van der Linden from Fairlight commented, "We're pleased to have worked with Concertzaal Tilburg on this project. The new system provides a noticeable improvement in sound clarity and coverage, enhancing the overall experience for audiences."

The upgrade will benefit a wide range of events, from acoustic performances that require subtle reinforcement to full-scale amplified concerts. It also aims to improve intelligibility for conferences and spoken word events.
